Current IOTC Position Vacancies

FISHERY OFFiCER (Fishery Statistician) AT THE IOTC SECRETARIAT

The IOTC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fishery officer (Fishery Statistician). The position is graded P3 and the key functions include:

  • Contributing to the planning, coordination and delivery of the Commission’s science activities.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and delivery of research programs and projects relevant to the information needs of the Commission.
  • Participates in the collation, verification and input of fisheries data in the IOTC data sets, as well as in their dissemination prior to each Working Party/Scientific Committee.
  • Estimates gaps or inconsistencies in all relevant data sets submitted by CPCs or received from other official sources (observer programmes or data collection projects implemented at national/international level) by using appropriate statistical procedures and methodologies.
  • Participates in the design and assessment of data collection and management initiatives in IOTC member countries, with a specific focus on artisanal and small-scale fisheries.
  • Participating in scientific and technical meetings, including the IOTC’s working parties and science capacity building workshops.
  • Undertaking reviews of scientific issues, as requested by the IOTC Scientific Committee and/or Commission.
